Aisam-Rojer claims Stockholm doubles title

Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julian Rojer Sunday won men’s doubles title defeating Sweden’s Jonas Bjorkman and Robert Lindstedt 6-2, 6-2 in the final of Stockholm Open.
The win has boosted the Pakistani-Dutch duo’s chances of qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals in London next month. This will be second consecutive occasion when they will qualify for the prestigious tournament.
The top seeded Qureshi and Rojer did not face much resistance from their Swede competitors in their straight set victory breaking serves four times and claimed the title in mere 63 minutes.
Speaking to state-run PTV channel after winning, Qureshi dedicated the victory to the nation as an Eid gift. Muslims across the globe including Pakistan have been celebrating Eid-ul-Azha this week.
This was Aisam and Rojer’s second Masters title this year as they had won Sonny Open earlier. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has now won Stockholm Open doubles title twice as the Pakistani star had won it with his then Indian partner Rohan Bhopanna in 2011 as well.
